Article I: Name of Club- Debate Club
Article II: Purpose of Club- The purpose of the debate club will be for there to be a safe place for students to meet, share and debate about their opinions.
Article III: Meetings- The meetings would be 3 Mondays a month from 2:30-3:30 in Ms. Anderson's room (room 208).
Article IV: Membership- The debate club is a non-dues collecting club and all are welcome to join without the burden of cost. Meetings are weekly and in order to sustain healthy debates with many different points of view we ask that members attend regularly. If possible, members should miss no more than 1 meeting per month. While this is a lenient policy, members should try to adhere to the policy. Club leaders will address concerns with any member who consistently misses meeting without reason. The debate club is a safe place for students to respectfully speak their opinions and debate on a wide range of topics. The debate club is not a place for students to verbally attack or degrade others and a code of conduct will be drawn up by leadership for all to adhere to. Leadership positions will be voted on by the club and those members must uphold their duties in order to remain in their elected positions.
Article VI: Officers and Duties- The Debate Club will have a student council of 3 people. 2 members would split the responsibilities of choosing debate topics, organizing events, etc. They would be co- presidents. There will be a media captain/secretary who’s in charge of promoting the club, making the website for the school page, collecting attendance, and taking meeting notes.
